Tribute to Kurt

Underneath my bridge (22.02.2024, created with Bing Image Creator powered by DALL-E 3)
Tuesday was Kurt Cubain’s birthday.
Here is my tribute musing over Nirvana’s song „Something in the way“ with my own lyrics.
Underneath my bridge
I was hiding from the world
And the many doubts I've trapped
Have all become my friends
And I was living off of praise
And plenty puzzling feelings
It's okay to be on stage
'Cause I could mask and start my healing
Something in the way, hmm-mmm
Something in the way, yeah, hmm-mmm

We’re paying homage to Kurt Cobain. This poem / lyrics were written for Tuesday Poetics where Melissa is hosting today.
Nirvana was when I was a teenager long time my one and only band. And after all these years I’m still a big fan. Like many other geniuses Kurt Cobain left us way too early. And probably some of the weirder lyrics have added to my love for nonsense poetry and inspires me till today.

I’ve automatically started singing most of the poems to the tune of their songs. Once I figure out which lyrics a person’s chosen. Yours is no different.😄
I like how you say “my bridge” as if this is one thing the person definitely has to be sure of. That he has made friends with it, and with his doubts.
A friend once told me the best place to get away with something is right in front of people. This comes to mind in the bit about being on stage, masking and starting healing. Kurt went a different way. It seems this person is more in touch with healing.❤️
Thanks a lot, Melissa!
Yes, unfortunately Kurt seems to have often suffered on stage.
Doubts as friends … collecting them. Love the way this feels. Great write!
Thank you, Helen
You’ve captured the Nirvana feeling, and the tone comes through brilliantly especially for me in these lines:
„And the many doubts I’ve trapped
Have all become my friends“ — Well done, Jan.
Thanks a lot, Dora
A very strong use of and homage to Nirvana’s lyrics… Nirvana was not as important to me, I did enjoy them, but there were others as well.
Thanks, Björn. Yes, they meant a lot to me!
Good job. I love it….had me humming along.
Thanks, Yvonne!
Jan, I love how your poem honors Kurt Cobain’s struggle with fame and inner turmoil. It captures his complexity and the haunting essence of his lyrics in a very poignant manner!
Much love,
David
Thank you, David!
