The raging raccoon lagoon

Raging raccoon lagoon, created with Bing Image Creator (9.1.2024, powered by DALL-E 3)

Traveling like a baboon
On a giant galloping spoon
I was charging my harpoon
Like every good dragoon

Caught sight of a raccoon platoon
And almost overlooked the monsoon
No miniscule moment too soon
I fled with my war-balloon
From the raging raccoon lagoon

I love dada poetry and my last stage program was indeed dada poetry. As I learn the poems I recite by heart which was quite a challenge for dada this has led to some really weird images and thoughts in my head. I like to go back there and create poems and images like the one above.

Melissa from Mom With a Blog is hosting today’s Quadrille at the dVerse Poets Pub.

She challenged us to a lagoonatic poem.

  1. This is so amazing. I can’t pick a favorite part! Love the mono-rhyme and the image you generated is just fabulous. I love raccoons. A raccoon platoon lagoon!🦝

  2. This was so fun to read. I love it!!!

  3. I would like to visit a raging racoon lagoon. It sounds like my kind of place and thank you for taking me there. I also would like to explore Dada poetry. So thank you for introducing it to me. Lovely work.

    • Thank you, that makes me happy. You might like to try e. g. The Ursonate from Kurt Schwitters, there is even a nice performance recorded in exerpts from Jaap Blonk available on Youtube:

For some other original Dada poetry it might be hard if you don’t understand German. You might find translations, although it’s often still gibberish, so who will translate that. 😀

  4. Wow. I love this! ❤️

  5. Jan, your dada poem skillfully weaves unexpected elements with playful rhyme and rhythm. The imagery of a „giant galloping spoon“ and a „raccoon platoon“ creates a delightful lagoonatic adventure that captivates me.

    to admire a racoon…
    How delightful they are,
    Mind-weaves in „Dada“

  7. Great rhyme 🙂
Poetic license too- like „dragoon“ 🙂
Moon should have been there too!

    • Thanks. Yes, if I had not been limited to 44 words I would have added the moon. I realised this when it was ready. Maybe worth to make an extended version one day.

  8. I do love all of your rhyming words… it works so well

  9. Great poem! Very fun 🙂

  10. I never would have guessed there were so many words that rhyme with lagoon. Your poem was phantastical and phun also. Cool graphic as well.

  11. I so enjoyed your verse! Wonderful!

  12. […] took my poem from a year ago, the Raging Raccoon Lagoon as inspiration for another dada like poem and went one level deeper for some neologism. I am e. g. […]
