Twenty years ago I studied in this city of love and great expectations
During my meditation routine I sank deeper and deeper into a relaxed state
On a rainy and cold Monday morning I dozed off
For natural marvel snow sets quite the bar
Lie on the heating
You’re my melalcoholia
Traveling like a baboon
Begin the difficult where it is still easy
Some day is hard
I process emotions, struggle and strife
Sometimes I only scratch the surface

Laura from Poetrypix hosts Meeting the Bar today at dVerse. We shall compose found poetry, using first lines (one per month) of our poetry from 2023. As I did not have enough poems yet I just used 11 posts I had and combined the first lines of those.
I fed Bing Image Creator with my poem and directly loved this image from the first try (it always provides 4 suggestions)

I enjoyed how this reads like the mind drifting off during meditation.
Indeed, I was surprised as well of so much meditative aspects in the first lines of my poems. Thank you
Amazing how your beginning and ending lines work together so well.
Thank you, Dwight
This is truly consistent with the image as well. – I truly love it.
Yes, it was so much fun. I gave Bing Image Creator my poem and it came up with that image. I loved it on the spot.
I love the illustration of a meditating monkey, it does fit the found poem well. The final lines resonate with me.
Thanks a lot, Kim
Bitte schön!
This fits together so well! Gorgeous, gorgeous work done! ❤️❤️
Thank you!
The poem works so well from that marvellous opening line (the AI art too)
Thank you!
I do love how this flows like meditation, going from ordered thoughts, to the fleeting snippets that break through the calmness, and then back again. Brilliant piece.
Thank you!
Genius, me thinks. Truly.
Thank you, Selma!
„this city of love and great expectations“ – this is a great description
Thank you!
This really works, Jan! I feel the same way, „sometimes I only scratch the surface“.
Yes, I really like that line. That’s why I repeated it.
Hope you’re doing well and that we get the chance to reconnect this year!
This is very cool, especially „Begin the difficult where it is still easy.“ Good advice. Love the image too.
Thank you
Loved the poem, the ending packs a philosophical punch; I also love what the AI produced for you image wise.
Thank you
Love the way this fell together Jan. 🙂✌🏼
Yes, I saw that with quite some of us. It’s a great way to write a poem. 😀
A great ‚found‘ poem, Jan!
Thank you!
I really like the lines you’ve chosen. This line, in particular, strikes me
„Begin the difficult where it is still easy“
Thank you!
Thank you so much for leaving me a comment … I thoroughly enjoyed this challenge … and especially your „found“ poem.
Well, thanks to you, Helen!
Jan,
Your found poem captures a vivid journey through different moments, expressing a range of emotions and experiences. The lines „Twenty years ago I studied in this city of love and great expectations“ evoke a sense of nostalgia and reflection, while the imagery of „For natural marvel snow sets quite the bar“ adds a touch of awe…
